Clonidine 100 mcg is a medication primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) by relaxing blood vessels and reducing heart rate, which helps lower blood pressure and decrease the risk of stroke and heart complications. It is also used in certain cases for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, migraine prevention, menopausal hot flashes, and withdrawal symptoms (such as from opioids or nicotine). Clonidine works by stimulating specific receptors in the brain that reduce sympathetic nerve activity. It should be taken strictly as prescribed, as sudden discontinuation may cause a rapid rise in blood pressure.
