This fixed-dose combination is an antiviral medication used for the treatment of:
Effective against multiple genotypes (1, 2, 3, and others).
The combination:
Reduces the amount of HCV in the body
Helps the liver recover
Achieves high cure rates (SVR – sustained virologic response)
Can be used in patients with or without cirrhosis
Often used with or without Ribavirin, depending on the genotype and liver condition.
1 tablet once daily
(Daclatasvir 60 mg + Sofosbuvir 400 mg)
Usually 12 weeks
May be 24 weeks in patients with:
Cirrhosis
Prior treatment failure
Required for some HCV genotypes and cirrhotic patients as per treatment protocol.
Dose adjustments are made by the hepatologist based on liver status.
Most patients tolerate the medicine well. Common side effects include:
Headache
Fatigue
Nausea
Insomnia
Anemia (more common when used with ribavirin)
Less common:
Irritability or mood changes
Diarrhea
Skin rash
Elevated liver enzymes (rare)
Seek medical attention for severe fatigue, jaundice, or breathing difficulty.
Take one tablet daily, at the same time each day
Can be taken with or without food
Swallow whole with water
Do not skip doses; adherence is essential for cure
Avoid alcohol during treatment
Regular follow-up tests:
Liver function
HCV viral load
CBC if on ribavirin
Continue the entire course even if you start feeling better.
