Mebendazole 500 mg is an antiparasitic (anti-helminthic) medicine used to treat intestinal worm infections such as roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, and pinworm. It works by blocking the worms’ ability to absorb glucose, which causes them to lose energy and die. This medicine helps relieve symptoms like abdominal pain, diarrhea, itching around the anus (in pinworm infection), and nutritional deficiencies caused by worm infestation. It is usually given as a single dose or short course depending on the type of infection. Mebendazole is generally well tolerated when used as prescribed.
