Rucaparib is an oral anticancer medicine used mainly in the treatment of ovarian cancer and certain other cancers associated with BRCA gene mutations. It belongs to a class of drugs called PARP inhibitors, which work by blocking an enzyme needed by cancer cells to repair their damaged DNA, leading to cancer cell death while sparing normal cells. Rucaparib is commonly used as maintenance therapy to help prevent cancer from coming back after chemotherapy and is also used in patients with advanced or recurrent ovarian cancer.
